Book 9 – Great Michigan Deer Tales

$15.00

Description

If you are interested in ordering the latest deer hunting book written by veteran Michigan outdoor writer Richard P. Smith from Marquette, who was inducted into the Michigan Outdoor Hall of Fame during 2025, you can do so now before it’s published and save some money. Book 9 of Great Michigan Deer Tales will be published later this year and will cost $19 postpaid then. The prepublication price is $15.

Book 9 continues the legacy created by the previous 8 books in the series with a whole new collection of some of the state’s greatest deer tales that primarily focus on the stories behind some of the biggest bucks bagged by hunters. The first chapter in the new book, for instance, highlights some of the latest information about the highest scoring typical-antlered buck known taken by a bowhunter in North America, which is a 12-pointer scoring 216 5/8 that Mitch Rompola from Traverse City arrowed on November 13, 1998.

There’s also a chapter about a UP buck in the 1950s that grew a nontypical 43-point rack that scores more than 300. Another chapter is about a boy from Ottawa County that broke a 34-year-old record with a 20-pointer he got during 2023. More chapters are about booners from Berrien, Genesee, Ingham, Lapeer and St. Joseph Counties. Trophy bucks from the northern Lower Peninsula besides the Rompola Buck are covered, too, along with plenty from the UP.

If you liked any of the previous books in the Great Michigan Deer Tales Series, you are sure to like the one being printed this year. If you haven’t read any of these popular deer hunting books yet, now is a good time to start. The reason the books are so popular is they celebrate Michigan’s proud history and tradition of deer hunting.
